Multi-platinum selling singer, Lerato Molapo also known as Lira had suffered a stroke three months ago. The singer had travelled to Germany for a performance but whilst there, she suffered a stroke.
The stroke had affected her ability to communicate “in particular, her speech has been impacted” the family said.
The family mentioned that the singer was undergoing treatment in South Africa and that the singer’s medical team had “advised that her journey to recovery will require patience”.
This meant that the singer would not be able to perform for a while. The news had the whole country devastated as the singer means so much to her fans in South African and across the world.
Since the post about her stroke, the singer had posted several posts on Instagram updating her fans about her recovery. On one post made on May 20, Lira mentioned she was not affected physically but unfortunately her speech was affected.
On the June 7, the award winner received a SAMA nomination for her remix done by Dj Maphorisa and took to Instagram that she is well and slowly recovering.
Recently the singer took to Instagram on a post with the hashtag #LetThereBeLight that she just marked 3 months since she had the stroke. The singer mentions that she in now able to talk, read and write but a little patience is needed.
She is proud of herself and thanks her fans for their prayers. Lira’s fans took to Twitter and Instagram to wish the singer well and with no doubt believe the singer will recover and go back to performing.
The singer mentioned that she has been receiving overwhelming love, prayers and support from her fans, friends, and family. We all wish the Singer well and a speedy recovery and we are proud of the recovery she has made so far.
