MTV Africa has unveiled the lives of some of South Africa’s favourite Hip Hop artists. At the official premiere of the highly anticipated Love & Hip Hop South Africa (SA).
Being the first franchise outside of the U.S, the local launch of the Love & Hip Hop is an ode to Hip Hop’s 50th anniversary, celebrated globally.
This is where Mgosi came face to face with some of the biggest and yet baddest hip hop musicians in the country.

Covered in glitz and glamour that well suited the occasion and theme of the old and new school of hip hop. As they walk the black carpet in all sorts designer drip.
We must admit, we were impressed by some of our artist’s outfit choices. They definitely came through for a special occasion.

LOVE & HIP HOP SA
The reality show which had been set to air on DStv’s MTV Africa on Monday, February 27. In a 13-episode show, portrays rappers as they attempt to juggle their careers, relationships and family dynamics. As well as ironing out certain misconceptions known about them in the public.
The global hip hop franchise features artists such as DaLes, Yanga Chief, Shane Eagle and his model girlfriend Nicole “Nikki” Swartz, DJ Speedsta, Money Badoo and J Molley. As they unveil the ins and outs of the music industry.
Speaking of misconceptions, there was some tension rising between artists who had underlying issues that had not been addressed in a while.
Yes we said it, Gigi and Fifi Cooper have a lot of things to iron out and we are here to witness it all.
On the same breathe, rappers Fifi Cooper and Gigi Lamayne seemed rather united if not cordial during a panel discussion at the premier.
Stating that they are the first female rappers to have made it thus far and its a special occasion for the both of them. Being groomed and uplifted by some of the industry giants to be where they are today, together.
They added that they plan to use Love & Hip Hop SA, a new TV reality show, to debunk the viewpoint there can only be one dominant woman in rap. Which is being proved time and time again, given the amount of female rappers that are coming to the scene.
Not forgetting the one’s they were seated next to.
The first episode sees Gigi Lamayne and Money Badoo meeting up ahead of the SA Hip Hop Awards. Gigi opens up about her beefs to Badoo however they are both secretly competing for the award. Already, there’s some mini feuds brewing and that’s just the beginning.
DJ Speedsta pays Da L.E.S a visit to catch up and talk about his move to Cape Town. Da L.E.S contemplates releasing music after a music release hiatus.
Gigi Lamayne hosts a dinner party which gets heated when Fifi Cooper arrives. They delve into their infamous beef and we learn how the rivalry between the country’s biggest female Hip Hop artists started.

The second episode of Love & Hip Hop SA takes us into the lives of Hip Hop lovebirds Shane Eagle and Nicole Swartz as they plan an upcoming trip. Fifi Cooper is in studio, making the final touches on her album. She talks about how she has been and her plans for the year.
Yanga Chief is at the barber shop getting a fresh cut. DJ Speedsta drops in to hang out and they talk about life and relationships.
After the explosive dinner party Gigi Lamayne hosted, Gigi and Fifi Cooper meet up to really talk about the rift that’s grown between them, with the hopes of resolving it once and for all.
