“I have not been paid a cent,” says Nomcebo Zikode. Sunday morning, Jerusalema singer and songwriter Nomcebo took to social media to share shocking news in a public statement!

Since its release in 2020, Jerusalema has certainly been a global success and has earned Master KG global recognition. He even took home the Best African Act Award at the MTV Europe Music Awards last year. Nomcebo Zikode’s news took us all by surprise. I “can’t stay silent” on this matter any longer she said. The singer handed the matter over to her lawyers. Further, she said that it has been a difficult time for her but the “continued love and support from the fans of #jerusalema has been my strength and anchor”.

It didn’t take long for Open Mic Productions to respond with a statement on behalf of Master KG. Since last year November, Master KG and Nomcebo Zikode have not come to a resolution. They had “agreed on sharing 50/50 of Master Kg’s earnings during the creation of the song. Through her legal team, Nomcebo reviewed the contractual agreement and “proposed for a higher percentage”. The statement continues to say that even Master Kg has to yet receive a payment because Nomcebo has not yet signed the Featured Artist Agreement.

Legal teams of both parties last communicated on the 19th of June 2021 about negotiated the singers’ contract. According to Open Mic Productions, Nomcebo Zikode knows that payments will only be made once both parties sign the agreement. We hope that the pair can come to a resolution and give us another hit.
