DJ Oskido, real name Oscar Mdlongwa and Kwaito artist Spikiri, real name Mandla Mofokeng celebrate more than 25 years of friendship. Having gone through the highs and lows of life, the two budding legendary artists are still standing. On Wednesday DJ Oskido took to Instagram to wish The Kingdon Father a happy birthday.
DJ Oskido and Spikiri were chilling with Spikiri at Daruma by Oskido when he shared a snap with Spikiri, saying that it is an emotional moment for him.
“Boys for life! This is an emotional moment for me. I feel blessed to have had more than 25-years of friendship with The Kongdon Father, Spikiri,” he says.
DJ Oskido says that the two of them have stories that can cover the sun.
“We’ve gone through the highs & lows of life, but we’re still standing. This is a man who taught me how to play keys, gave me confidence and guided me through a lot. He’s always had a giving heart & grace. He is a musical genius of note, one who lets his music speaks for itself,” says Oskido.
The DJ says that he is yet to meet one producer in South Africa who has a discography close to Spikiri’s.
“You’ve made hits from Jabu Khanyile to Khanyo, Senyaka to Kamazu, Baby Gee to BOP, MM Deluxe to Mafikizolo, Kabelo to Kamazu, Trompies to Thandiswa, Bongo Muffin to Boomshaka, Freddie Gwala to Ihashi’ Elimhlophe, and the list goes on and on. We’ve been a privileged generation to have had you amongst us. Let the music continue, and give us more hits to dance to like there’s no tomorrow! Happy birthday ? THE KINGDON FATHER,” says DJ Oskido via his Instagram page.
