The DJ shocked her fans when she posted pictures of herself with an entirely different look than her signature cut. Lamiez is known to her fans as a trendsetter in the category of unique short hairstyles.
She is also considered one of the most popular ambassadors of natural hair beauty. She never felt the weave FOMO as they became a more favoured type of hairstyle. DJ Lamiez Holworthy certainly had social media buzzing at how different she looked.
Lamiez posted images and videos of herself celebrating her 30th birthday in an Indian costume. The DJ, who is of half Indian decent, did this as an ode to her cultural roots on her mothers side.
She captioned one of the posts: “If Pocahontas was South African…”, making reference to an Indian Disney Princess. The DJ dedicated a sweet message to herself which read “Once upon a time(30 years ago, to be exact) A BLACK PRINCESS WARRIOR was born.”

She continued about how she became the hero she needed as a kid. Possibly making reference to the bullying she faced growing up as a child of mixed decent.
The themed party was attended by her husband and award winning musician Khuli Chana, close friends and family at their home. The DJ’s posts showed her among attendees rocking a long silky weave that many say she absolutely stunned in while others just didn’t know how to feel.
Lamiez said that it had been 5 years since she cut her hair and wanted to try wearing a wig. She must have shocked herself as she continued saying: “I don’t know what came over me but glad I was able to come to my senses fast enough to realise just how my power has and always will lay in being DIFFERENT”.
This may have been alluding to the women who look up to her and support her because of her authenticity and uniqueness. She ended off saying that changing her image would be “…going against all that I’ve built and all that I stand for”.
