Dineo Ranaka Sets To Be Sued By Ex-Husband Klaas James Pesha

TV and radio personality Dineo Ranaka is reportedly sued R500 000 by her estranged husband Klaas Pesha over abuse allegations against him.

Dineo Ranaka is a South African radio personality, television presenter, actress, DJ and TV producer. The radio personality is reportedly being sued for R500 000. By the father of her child and estranged husband Klaas Pesha over abuse allegations.

Dineo Ranaka’s pending divorce from her ex-husband Klaas Pesha has taken an ugly turn. Since he hit her with a half a million rand lawsuit for allegedly “fabricating” assault allegations against him.

This is after Ranaka alleged on her Whatsapp statuses and in an interview on Podcast and Chill with MacG. She annouced that Pesha assaulted her during an argument at their Tshwane matrimonial home last year.
Media icon said the incident happened seven months after they tied the knot. She immediately then dumped him as she could not stand to be with a perpetrator of gender-based violence.

Her ex-husband, Klaas Pesha who is a businessman and engineer has Ranaka’s claims scrapped.  As well as to withdraw the allegations. Klaas also wants an apology  as the abuse allegations have damaged his reputation.

Pesha reportedly filed papers in the Johannesburg High Court last week. Which reveals that Ranaka posted several Whatsapp statuses on October 14, 2021. This is when she said she would rather file for divorce than to keep up with the abuse.
In the court papers he included a screenshot of the messages, which read: “I would rather have a divorce decree than (sic) a premature death certificate. I cannot believe I married a man who has the full capability of killing me and making my death look like it’s my own doing,”  said Ranaka.

Pesha said he and Ranaka’s legion of fans, friends and family who were on her contact lists when she posted the messages understood the statements to mean that he was an abuser.

He also said the statements or statuses posted by Ranaka are false, malicious and defamatory and challenge his character, reputation and dignity.

The ex-husband says that Ranaka made the statements maliciously, knowing that they were false because he was never arrested and charged for assaulting her.

According to Sunday World, Ranaka made the statements knowing they were false. As he was never arrested and charged for assaulting her.

He said his lawyers wrote a letter of demand to Ranaka on October 14, last year.  To order her to retract the statuses and apologise to him, but she refused. This, he said, left him with no choice but to approach the court for relief.

In her plea, Ranaka insisted Pesha assaulted her. She said she wanted to open a case of assault against him but he threatened to press a countercharge.

“Upon the SAPS wanting to arrest the plaintiff, the plaintiff threatened to lay a criminal charge against the defendant in retaliation, with the effect that the defendant would be arrested and be prevented from caring for the parties’ small baby,” she said.

Ranaka has asked the court to dismiss Pesha’s application with costs. As stated in the papers, the trial was delayed. This is after Dineo’s lawyers, Burnett Attorneys, withdrew as attorneys of record on May 20.
