Now, after a successful working relationship in the past, they’re back with a brand-new collaboration celebrating love as they release their new summer anthem Rainbows.
Rainbows is the final musical release of the year from the platinum-selling singer-songwriter and is the perfect summer sing-along for the holiday season. The track is a fun and catchy Afrobeat-infused pop-dance delight produced by hitmaker Sketchy Bongo. “Sketchy and I have a great musical chemistry in the studio,” Daniel says.
“We finished this track in under 3 hours. It was a whirlwind experience but we are so thrilled with what we managed to cook up in the studio and we hope that South Africa enjoys the track as we officially enter the summer season.”

Lyrically, Rainbows is a beautiful song celebrating authentic love. “The song is about taking in and appreciating every perfect ounce of beauty that is in the person you love,” Daniel explains. “I wrote the song at a time when I had just met the girl of dreams. But, we lived in different cities and could only see each other every once in a while. So, I would find myself longing for her, and I would write these love songs as a way to compartmentalize my feelings.”

Daniel Baron and Sketchy Bongo reunited in the studio last year when Daniel took a trip to Durban to visit his fiancé who was living there at the time. “I popped into Sketchy’s studio to hang out while I was down at the coast and when musos hang out, we generally make songs. This track basically kind of appeared out of nowhere in a very short time,” Daniel explains. “And that’s when you know it’s something special.”

After putting the song on ice because of the global Covid-19 pandemic, the duo thought that now was the best time to finally release the track. “It’s a perfect summer song,” Daniel says. “I hope so many people connect with it during the upcoming summer vacation. I am really proud of this one.”
