Mzansi’s very own media mogul Connie Ferguson was crowned “Favourite Personality” at the DSTv MVCA this past Saturday. The star-studded evening was filled with excitement and grandeur but The Queen star managed to leave South Africa in tears with her heart-warming acceptance speech which she dedicated to her late husband Shona Ferguson.
Connie and Shona met twenty years ago and it would be without fault to say that theirs was a timeless love, and truly one for the books. Connie and Shona served serious couple goals from the beginning of their highly publicised marriage, and it must have been love at first sight as couple got married just four months after sharing their first kiss.
In 2010, the couple launched a successful film and television empire titled “Ferguson Films”. They then went on to produce shows such as Rockville, Kings of Joburg, and The Queen to name a few. These shows have gone on to see major successes, affording the couple a comfortable lifestyle, lengthy careers, and bagging them multiple awards. One such award is the DSTv MVCA that Connie Ferguson accepted on the 25th of June 2022.
In her acceptance speech she said that she was dedicating the award to her best friend. Speaking lovingly about her husband, she continued saying that he was someone who meant the world to her and believed in her more than she did. In finishing, she said: “Mr Sho, I love you hubby, forever. May you continue resting in peace my love.”
South Africans took to social media to praise Connie for how well she looked and spoke about her late husband. It can also be noted how Connie still honours and keeps her husband’s memory alive with social media posts and the Instagram hashtag #theSHOgoeson.
