Blaq Diamond members, Ndumiso “Ndu Brown” Mdletshe and Sphelele “Danya” Dunywa finally won their court battle against former record label Ambitiouz Entertainment. The two hitmakers, filed for an urgent court order against the record label after their music was taken down from digital platforms following a dispute.
Ndu Brown and Danya left Ambitiouz Entertainment without renewing their contracts. The pair took it to social media by uploading a celebratory video and to also give thanks to the people who stood by their side during the legal battle, the team and the advocates.
“Today is 12 June, we have incredible news. We just came from the court. We came back with a win. This is a game changer to the music industry, especially for those artists that sign contracts that are not okay and fair.”
“We would drop music and our previous label would go out on YouTube and try to take down the music, added Ndu Brown. Danya further said that they have learned so much from this legal battle.
Ambitiouz Entertainment has issued a statement that they respect and accept the decision the law has made and will comply accordingly while exploring other legal avenues:
Louella shared a picture of the court ruling on twitter captioned:
“CONGRATULATIONS to my client Blaq Diamond for successfully interdicting YouTube & Ambitiouz Entertainment from removing their music off YouTube and all DSPs!!! WE WON WITH COSTS. This is an industry game changer! This is for all musicians being exploited by record labels!”
