Grammy Award winner DJ Black Coffee left South Africans gushing over him after he topped the Twitter trends, when fans realised he was one of the executive producers and writers on rapper Drake’s latest project, Honestly, Nevermind.
If “let your work do the talking” was a person, as Times Live put it, it would certainly be Black Coffee. The global icon, DJ and producer did not bother to blow his own horn about being part of Drake’s seventh studio album that was released on June 17.
Honestly, Never Mind is a 14 track album which is unconventional and largely dance influenced. Drake relives the Black Coffee produced One Dance days and brings an album with the same feel, almost 6-years later.
However, he did take to social media that he is proud of his son Esona. Who is also featuring on Drake’s dance album.
“So proud of this guy,” Black Coffee captioned in a snap of his son with a heart emoji.
Black Coffee has been credited as producer and co-writer on a few songs on the album, which include:
- Texts Go Green — Black Coffee listed his son Esona Tyolo (who has been touring with him) as co-producer.
- Currents —The DJ has been credited as a co-writer and co-producer.
- Overdrive — Black Coffee has been credited as a co-writer and co-producer.
Black Coffee’s achievement comes after he made history as the first African producer to win a Grammy. South Africans could not be more proud and ready to celebrate Black Coffee’s wins. He always comes through with raising the bar and we salute him.
