Earlier this week, Eskom announced that the South African loadshedding situation would be escalating. Meaning that citizens would be spending more time in the dark than before.
This also means that people would have no power to complete basic house chores between the prime hours that South African citizens start to make their way from work.
The situation leaves many in the dark but award-winning South African rapper AKA thinks there might be a solution in sight.
Kiernan Forbes, otherwise known by his alias AKA, took to Twitter to voice his frustration towards Eskom. In a tweet, the rapper said that it was “time to consider an alternative to Eskom in terms of providing power”.
Many of his fans agreed with the rapper with some even suggesting that the power utility be voted out. The rapper then focused his efforts towards billionaire Elon Musk.
This may have come as a bit of a surprise to some seeing as Musk is not even in South Africa as well as those who do not know much about the businessman.
Musk was originally born in South Africa and lived in the country until he was 17 years old. He is more recently known for buying the ownership rights to Twitter as well as introducing the world to Tesla.
The business tycoon, whose net worth averages 225,3 billion. Is the CEO and Product Architect of Tesla Motors, as well as the CTO and CEO of SpaceX. It is also said that he is the richest man in the world!
This might shed light on why Supa Mega would reach out to Musk for assistance. AKA tagged Elon Musk in a tweet where he questioned why the South African government had not reach out to him. To try find a solution to the country’s power crisis.
In 2006, Musk assisted in the creation of SolarCity. A solar energy company. That was later acquired by Tesla, and is known for his views on sustainable energy. The Mega is known to speak what’s on his mind but could he be onto something this time?
