The 15th annual South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs) are calling for the nomination of the dearly departed in Memoriam!

And you can nominate your favs who passed on between January 2020 to date.
The National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF), an agency of the Department of Sport, Arts, and Culture and custodian of the SAFTAs would like to extend a call to the South African Film and Television industry to submit names of our dearly departed practitioners who passed between January 2020 to date.

The SAFTAs through the National Film and Video Foundation announced that this call is to get all the relevant names that will be honored in their Memoriam section of the awards.
“This call is to get all the relevant names that will be honored in our In Memoriam section of the awards. This call is across the board for all film and television practitioners,” reads a statement released by the National Film and Video Foundation.

The SAFTAs will be paying special tribute and honoring our fallen heroes and heroines for their contribution to the film and television industry, on the 22nd of May 2021.
You are welcome to please submit the full name and surname and a preferred high-resolution image of the deceased.

The SAFTAs opened the submissions on Monday, the 19th of April 2021. The closing date for submission is Friday, the 7th of May 2021.
You can nominate your dearly departed fav by sending your submission (must be emailed) to staceyl@nfvf.co.za by the 7th of May 2021.

Some of the celebrities in the industry that died in 2020 (to date) are, to name a few, V-Mash, Allen Booi, Elize Cawood, Menzi Ngubane, Mary Twala, actress Thandeka Mdeliswa, actor Sipho Ngema, and Soapie star Karabo Makhubela to name a few.
