Jessica Nkosi is worried about a fake Facebook page created in her name that spreads hatred against her colleagues and industry friends. Since the actress is a well-known celebrity with a strong brand, there are several fake accounts created in her name on various social media platforms in an effort to gain followers.
Because of the type of content shared on one in particular, a Facebook page that may have the largest following of all the fictitious accounts created in her name, the actress is outraged and asking for support from her fans to have it permanently deleted. The actress’s reputation is being impacted by the page’s publication of unfavourable stories about South African celebrities.
Jessica posted a disclaimer on her Instagram stories stating that she wasn’t the person behind the page and that she is currently working to create a legitimate account for herself so the fake one can be deleted.
Here’s what she had to say about the fake account:
“Guys there is a Facebook page that has been pretending to be me for YEARS!!! And they post really damaging stuff of my colleagues and people in the industry. I’ve tried to report it but it’s still up. Don’t know what to do at this point!!! THIS IS NOT ME!!! I don’t have an active FB page, my team is busy setting up a Facebook account for me now so I can go on FB and declare that page as fake and report it ASAP!! Sengikhathele…Coz people really think that’s me posting. I can’t even post the terrible things they post coz it’s just horrible and wrong!!!! It’s getting out of hand!!!”
“If you are on Facebook please help me and report the page. I’m not sure how Facebook works but please help me if you can guys. Lapho there are like 100 fake accounts in my name but this one is the one I need to address and make sure it disappears cos You!It’s bad manje!!! Too many people are coming to me telling me about it and are very concerned. Lapho I thought it was clear as daylight that it’s OBVIOUSLY NOT ME!!! But khona abantu that clearly believe that that’s me and I don’t like that. I would never ever, like eeeeew!!! I mean that person talks shit about me even. Who ever that is, is a mean vile and evil person!!!!!!! I will make sure that page disappears,” said Jessica.
She concluded by thanking the Facebook users who reported the page as being one of her Instagram followers. “I want to thank everyone who has sent me images proving they have reported the page. Thank you so much, Ngiyabonga, for taking the time to help me. THANK YOU.”
