As we all know Mpho Wabadimo is a sangoma. For this reason she’s experienced a lot of negativity on the show. She addressed the allegations that she only won because she is a sangoma just yesterday. She also elaborated on her “Sangoma phobia” when first entering the Big Brother House.

Being a Sangoma Should be a Norm

Mpho Wabadimo explains that amongst Africans one would expect that being a Sangoma is a norm. But instead it’s not, it’s looked down on and shamed. She added “I did introduce myself as a Sangoma in the first week, and I did mention that I’m not a magician, I’m a healer. If i was not meant to be there Idlozi lami would have not allowed the situation to happen. So I went there and I was myself. I broke stereotypes.”

She explained that just because you are a Sangoma it doesn’t mean that you are not human. As a sangoma she also experiences life like any other person ophaphayo. She explained that her faith is one thing that she kept constant throughout because she was trapped in a space of accusations about having imiti.

She says “I showed that idlozi is not something that you can touch with your hand, it’s within me, it’s the power I walk with.” she concluded by saying “Winning was destiny, it was a dream that became a reality.”

Congratulations to her! She did it, and proved to the girls and boys out there hiding their true identity, that pride in who you are can get you far. Boity Thulo, Dineo Ranaka and many more celebrities are loud and proud about practicing African Tradition even though they get judged about it. We are proud of Mpho for walking in her truth.
