Just in case you live under a rock, the #Umlando Challenge is one where people thrust their hips to the beat of the catchy song. So the reason it could get a person into trouble is because of the places it’s performed at. The dance takes place in the most bizarre places, such as on top of cars and in the case of Dineo Ranaka on top of office furniture at the SABC studios!
What’s the big deal
An unnamed source provided information that Dineo Ranaka had been suspended due to misconduct when performing her dance. Perhaps if she did the #Umlando Challenge without climbing on furniture it would have been dismissed.

People are going crazy on Twitter about the suspension. There are some people who commend Metro FM as well as some people who disagree and here’s why. One says that they commend Metro FM as work is not the place to be “ twerking” there is a place and time for that. Judging by the amount of times the tweet has been liked and retweeted it seems that many people agree with this point of view. While in opposition tweets say it is quite extreme to suspend someone just for dancing on top of the table.
I guess the lesson here is, yes it is fun to participate in these TikTok challenges. However we definitely need to be cautious as to which extreme we take them to. Next thing you know ama2000 will be suspended from school for standing on their teachers desks to do the #Umlando challenge.
